Afternoon storm causes power outages

TERRE HAUTE — A rainstorm that rolled through Terre Haute between 3:15 and 3:30 p.m. has resulted in power outages of at least 1,710 customers of Duke Energy.

Duke Energy reports the majority, about 1,098 customers, are in four areas, which include along U.S. 41 from East Hancock Street north to near Maple Avenue; along North 13th Street from Maple Avenue north to near Fort Harrison Road; North 13th from Fifth Avenue north to Cedar Street; along Lafayette Avenue from Florida Avenue north to near Fort Harrison Road.

Power is expected to be restored by 6 p.m., Duke Energy reports.
