Software startups to be center stage at Verge meeting

TERRE HAUTE — Verge Terre Haute is conducting its monthly meeting at a new venue today, with some new features to the schedule.

The group is gathering from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Terre Haute’s first and only co-work space, Launch Terre Haute. Structured around technology startups, the event will feature Joe Auty, a front-end web application developer, systems administrator and entrepreneur. He will speak about his successes and failures in building great software products for early stage startups, along with the fun and stress of building his own early stage startup, DataSprocket.

A new feature added to the agenda is an open mic time, during which Verge-goers will be given the opportunity to pitch their own startup ideas.

“The call for ‘open mic’ pitches was well-received,” said Verge’s David Dubree in a news release. “We have three idea champions ready to pitch their world-changing ideas and get constructive, critical feedback. We have room for one more pitch. No one will know about your great idea/startup if you don’t tell them.”

Those attending the meeting will get a sneak-peek at the Launch Terre Haute co-work space, in the heart of downtown Terre Haute at Seventh Street and Wabash Avenue.

This space will provide a members-only workspace for freelancers, independents and startup teams to collaborate and launch their businesses. Existing businesses will also be able to take advantage of the creative space for offsite meetings and connect with local talent.

For more information about Verge events, contact Dubree via Verge Terre Haute’s Facebook page or by joining the Verge Meetup page at www.meetup.com/ VergeTerreHaute.
