Library’s June brown bag to focus on summer theater

TERRE HAUTE — The Vigo County Public Library’s June Brown Bag program on Wednesday will feature a preview of the Crossroads Repertory Theatre’s 2014 summer season.

Arthur Feinsod will take the audience behind the scenes of the four plays in CRT’s 40th season — “I Love You, You’re Perfect, NOW Change!,” “The Untold Story of Little John,” “Coming To See Aunt Sophie” and “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are DEAD.”

The session will be at 1 p.m. in the lower level meeting rooms at the library.

The Crossroads season will showcase a collection of musical theater, comedy, drama and satire.

Of special note is the July 2 American debut of “Coming to See Aunt Sophie.” The Wabash Valley has long enjoyed Feinsod’s work as producer and director; but this performance introduces Feinsod as dramatist and playwright. It is a deeply moving story, based on the life of Jan Darski, a member of the Polish Underground in World War II.

In a moment “outside of time and reality” a young Jan, struggling in the war effort, confronts a mature and distinguished professor, only to find that it is himself. Together they battle the demons of the past and present that haunt them.

As a bonus, cast members will join Feinsod to provide a glimpse of the action and drama. The VCPL Brown Bag program is free, open to the public. Cookies and coffee will be served.

For more information on CRT tickets and performance dates, call the CRT box office at 812-237-3333 or visit www.crossroadsrep.

com. For more information on the Brown Bag Speaker Series, call the library’s Community Connections Department at 812-232-1116.
