TERRE HAUTE — Prosecutors are awaiting autopsy results that could affect charges in a 2013 battery case that now involves a death.

An autopsy was scheduled for this morning for Jeremy Salesman Sr., said Susan Amos, Vigo County Coroner. Salesman, 37, who died Friday, was the alleged victim in a December battery case involving Christopher Pine and James Shafer.

Pine and Shafer were arrested on allegations of battery; however, the autopsy results could affect the charges, said Terry Modesitt, Vigo County Prosecutor.

“The case is still under investigation, so we’re going to review the medical records and autopsy results before we make a determination,” Modesitt said late Monday evening in a telephone interview.
