More winter weather moves through Valley

TERRE HAUTE — Snow was back Saturday, but today promises to be sunny.

Forecasters said today will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny with a high near 31 and low around 25 tonight.

The National Weather Service forecasted accumulating snow returning to the Wabash Valley on Saturday, with widespread snowfall totals of half an inch to two inches in different parts of the Wabash Valley.

And true enough, snow started to fall Saturday afternoon.

Wabash Valley counties such as Vigo, Clay, Vermillion and Parke, were on winter weather advisory until 1 a.m. today.

In Terre Haute, total nightime accumulation was less than one inch possible, according to the National Weather Service.

As snow started falling Saturday afternoon, not many slide-offs were reported but there were some accidents.

The Indiana State Police said that a personal injury accident occurred on Interstate 70 in Clay County. Officials were still working at the scene at mile marker 23 near the Brazil exit around 5:30 p.m. One person was possibly injured, police said.

Near mile marker 16, on the westbound lanes, dispatchers were reporting another accident, but they said it may have only caused damage to the vehicle.

Another accident occurred on I-70 in Putnam County near mile marker 31, police said.
