CORY — The Indiana Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing for the proposed project on the Indiana 46 bridge over Birch Creek. The hearing will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Clay County Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department. The Fire Department is at 500 S. Center St. in Cory.

The public hearing will offer all interested persons an opportunity to comment on the current design plans for the proposed Indiana 46 bridge replacement over Birch Creek, just under a mile west of Indiana 59.

Information about the bridge can be found on the following INDOT Historic Bridge Marketing  website: The public hearing will also be the last opportunity for a responsible party to step forward and provide the necessary sureties to obtain ownership of the bridge.

Construction of the proposed project will replace the existing structure with a new 112-foot long, three span, reinforced concrete slab bridge on the existing alignment.
