TERRE HAUTE —
A Vigo County jury has found James Madison Ross IV not guilty of involuntary manslaughter but guilty of battery resulting in serious bodily injury.
Ross had been charged with the class-C felonies in connection with the Jan. 8 death of William Powell, 48. An autopsy determined that Powell died as a result of acute bacterial peritonitis due to a rupture of his small intestine caused by blunt force trauma.
Ross will be sentenced Jan. 10.
