Victim of Monday Parke crash ID’d

---- — Police have identified the victim in a fatal car accident in Parke County on Monday.

Linda Chaney, 75, of Reelsville was driving south on Indiana 59 south of Mansfield when her vehicle left the road and struck a tree. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the accident, which happened about 2:40 p.m., is unknown at this time, according to the Parke County Sheriff’s Department.

It was the second fatal accident in a 24-hour period investigated by Parke County authorities.

A fatal accident Sunday night was caused by black ice, according to a sheriff’s department news release.

Police responded to the single motor-vehicle accident at about 9 p.m. on U.S. 36 near Midway Road, between Montezuma and Rockville.

Larry McDaniel, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene while a passenger, Ellen McDaniel, 23, was transported to Union Hospital of Clinton for minor injuries.

Larry McDaniel was driving a Ford Ranger west on U.S. 36 when it struck a patch of black ice, which caused the vehicle to go off the road and strike a tree, according to the sheriff’s department.
