TERRE HAUTE — Dreams Come True Films is beginning work on another film and is looking to cast one of company CEO Candy Beard’s favorite actors.

The film company’s third film — “Vanished” — is a film about a child being abducted and how the family survives the aftermath for the months that follow.

Actors and actresses from 16 states are coming to Terre Haute to act in the screenplay. One person, however, has Beard, director of “Vanished,” ecstatic.

Richard Bryant played the character Pvt. Jeremy Sherwood in the show “Army Wives” for five seasons until his character was killed. Beard hopes to bring him on to play the father of an abducted child.

“I am a huge fan of Bryant,” she said. “He was my favorite character on the show and he seems like a great down-to-earth type of guy. He seems so friendly and not arrogant or stuck on himself.”

Getting Bryant to play the part is a $5,000 to $7,000 investment, she said.

In hopes of raising a good portion of the money to cover Bryant’s participation, Beard and company are staging a fundraiser at both Applebee’s and Buffalo Wild Wings on July 8 in Terre Haute. People wanting to donate can visit either of the Facebook pages: “Dine to Donate for Vanished” or the “Vanished” fan page. Found on the Facebook pages will be e-tickets which must be presented to the server electronically or in paper form to donate 10 percent of the bill — minus tip, liquor and tax cost — to Dreams Come True Films.

Beard started her screen-writing career in 2006 and has written 10 short films and 13 full-length screenplays. The first full-length screenplay was “In a Cage” in 2011 and the second — “This Promise I Made” — followed shortly after. “Vanished” is the first film Beard will be directing herself, she said.

“In January of 2007, I had a nightmare that this scenario happened to me,” she said. “I woke up startled and after I figured out it was just a dream, I thought it would make a good movie. I wrote it as a screenplay and a book which was published in 2008.”

She is planning on taking her time with the screenplay by spanning the filming over an eight-month period starting July 20.

“I want to capture all the seasons in the screenplay to make the movie more realistic,” she said. “When this is produced, I want the folks from Terre Haute to watch the movie and be proud of it, since it will be filmed here.”

For more information on the film or to donate, call Beard at 812-232-7287 or visit the Dreams Come True Films or “Vanished” Facebook pages.
