New Golden Corral now open

TERRE HAUTE — Golden Corral Buffet & Grill has opened a new restaurant at 10 W. Johnson Drive in Terre Haute. The restaurant, south of Interstate 70 just off U.S. 41, is approximately 11,500 square feet and seats 386 guests.

Along with home-style buffet that includes pot roast, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables, the new restaurant will offer Sirloin steak filets every day as a part of its dinner buffet. Other cuisine includes Asian, Italian, Mexican dishes along with seafood selections.

In addition to the hot buffet items, the restaurant will feature a market-fresh salad bar, where guests may build their own salads from dozens of ingredients. Rounding out the buffet offering, a variety of cakes, pies, and homemade breads, including yeast rolls, will be baked fresh in-house and served daily. The Golden Corral will also showcase a premium dessert buffet, including freshly spun cotton candy, hand-dipped ice cream and a trio of dessert fountains (chocolate, white chocolate and caramel) every day.

Besides its lunch and dinner buffets (which will feature more than 100 hot and cold food items), the restaurant will serve a weekend breakfast buffet Saturday and Sunday mornings from 7:30 to 11 a.m. The buffet will feature made-from-scratch omelets, along with scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, pancakes, waffles, French toast, fresh fruit, a variety of juices, donuts and homemade biscuits.

On weekdays, lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and dinner from 4 p.m. to close. On Saturday and Sunday, dinner is served from 11 a.m. to close.

The restaurant also offers discounts for senior citizens and has banquet facilities available free of charge for groups and organizations.

The restaurant is owned by entrepreneurs Rao and Ratna Yalamanchili, Suresh Tummala, Hareendra Yalamanchili and Bharatha Chukkapalli. The restaurant will be managed daily by owner and Vice President of Operations Suresh Tummala, District Manager John Henry, General Manager Mike Powers, Associate Manager Ken Horstman, Associate Manager Preston Wheelock and Associate Manager Theresa Vanmarte.
