TERRE HAUTE — Duke Energy reports more than 6,900 Vigo County customers currently without power after today’s midday storm.

The outages, mostly in northern Vigo County, stem from a storm that blew through the area about noon today.

Vigo County Central Dispatch has received numerous calls concerning limbs down as well, including on Fruitridge Avenue and other areas, especially in the north end. A tree and power pole were reported on fire at one location in Otter Creek township.

Duke Energy also reported more than 1,500 customers without power this afternoon in Clay County and more than 580 in Parke County.
