I-70 westbound open again following evening crash

TERRE HAUTE — Interstate 70 west-bound, after being closed Tuesday due to an accident in Putnam County, opened again to traffic at about 7:30 p.m.

Police responded to a crash involving a semitrailer and an SUV about 5:30 p.m. on I-70 westbound. Injuries were reported, but no details were immediately available. West-bound I-70 was closed at about the 41 mile-marker for the crash, which took place a few miles farther to the west in a construction zone.

Traffic was diverted from west-bound I-70 to Indiana 231 and U.S. 40 at the Greencastle/Cloverdale exit.

Indiana State Police said both lanes of west-bound I-70 was again open as of 7:35 p.m.
