Ernie Pyle Museum opens today for summer season

Open Friday through Sunday

DANA — The Ernie Pyle World War II Museum in Dana reopens today for its summer season.

It will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sundays. The museum will be closed on Mother’s Day, May 11.

The site, located on Indiana 71, one mile north of U.S. 36 in Vermillion County, features Ernie Pyle’s birthplace and a museum highlighting the famous journalist’s life and writings as a correspondent during World War II.

The site is owned and operated by the Friends of Ernie Pyle, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and advancement of Pyle’s legacy in Dana, as well as throughout Indiana and the nation.

In addition to regular hours, the Friends of Ernie Pyle offers private tours. For more information, visit the museum’s website at www.erniepyle.org.

The site is open each year from May to Veterans Day in November, but private tours are offered year round.
