New York —
A tourist from Indiana is recovering after she was hit by a falling tree branch in Manhattan’s Central Park.
The woman’s name has not been released, but The Wall Street Journal reports that she is from Terre Haute.
The branch, about 3 inches around, hit her at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday. She was conscious but disoriented and bleeding from the head when an ambulance took her to a hospital.
In June 2010 a 6-month-old baby was killed and her mother was injured by a falling tree branch at the Central Park Zoo. Earlier that year, a man was also killed in the park by a branch that was heavy from snow. And in 2009, a branch struck and severely injured another person.
