Body found near Vigo-Clay line

TERRE HAUTE — Police are requesting public assistance as they investigate the death of a woman whose body was found along a gravel roadway.

According to a media release issued by the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a report of a body found about one mile north of Indiana 42 along the Clay and Vigo county line.

The body was reportedly discovered by a fisherman about 6 p.m. Saturday.

According to the release, the deceased woman appeared to be a Caucasian female between 20 and 40 years of age, with shoulder-length brown hair in “corn-row” style. She was reportedly wearing black pants and dark shoes. An autopsy is scheduled for this morning.

Chief Deputy Clark Cottom stated the department has begun searching local and statewide missing person reports.
