Davon Dillard scored 24 points to lead Bowman Academy to an 86-73 win over Linton-Stockton in the Class 2A state final Saturday afternoon at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Eagles won their second title in four years and rebounded from a runner-up season in 2012.
Bowman won its first title in Class 2A. Justin King and Antonio Pipkin each contributed 16 points for the Eagles.
The Miners fell behind by 16 points in the third quarter before pulling to 60-52 entering the fourth. They made 9 of 10 shots in the third and got as close as five on four occasions in the fourth. Bowman (18-9) used a 6-0 run to lead 76-65 with less than three minutes remaining and closed it out from there.
Austin Karazsia, the Trester Mental Attitude Award winner, led Linton-Stockton (24-4) with 29 points and 10 rebounds. The Miners shot 55 percent from the field but committed 23 turnovers.
