Police seeking information on deadly Greene County crash

LINTON — The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Wednesday on Indiana 54 near County Road 800 West about midway between Switz City and Linton.

Motorist Phillip K. Reynolds Jr., 51, of Linton, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy was scheduled for today.

Another motorist, 48-year-old Lisa M. Shafer of Odon, sustained serious injury and was transported to Greene County General Hospital in Linton for treatment. She has been released.

A third motorist, Todd W. Bennett, 19, of Linton, also was taken to the Linton hospital, then transferred to an Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, where he remained this morning in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

Police are seeking witnesses to the crash, which occurred around 6:15 a.m. Reynolds was driving a 1992 Chevrolet pickup truck. Shafer was driving a 2011 Dodge car. Bennett was driving a 2001 Chevrolet pickup.

The accident and reconstruction efforts by the Indiana State Police kept the road closed until about 3 p.m.
