Man brandishes rake, takes drink

TERRE HAUTE — A man who is alleged to have pilfered an energy drink and brandished a rake has been charged with armed robbery, theft and intimidation.

Larry Faulkner, 32, of Terre Haute, was arrested Saturday morning after an incident was reported at an area business.

Faulkner appeared via video in Vigo Superior Court 6 on Wednesday where he was formally charged with class-B felony armed robbery, and theft and intimidation, both of which are class-D felonies.

According to charging information, Faulkner was allegedly seen taking an energy drink from a store without paying for it. When two people confronted him about walking out of the business with the drink, Faulkner allegedly picked up a rake and brandished it at the men in a threatening manner.

When he was located a short time later by Terre Haute Police, Faulkner was in possession of both the energy drink and the rake.

Judge Michael Lewis set a June 9 hearing in the case, and also suggested a mental health evaluation for Faulkner, who remained in the Vigo County Jail on Wednesday with bond set at $35,000 cash only.
