Kent Avenue fire labeled as arson by investigators

The Tribune-Star

TERRE HAUTE — Information is being sought on an arson that heavily damaged a vacant house Tuesday morning.

At about 4 a.m., Terre Haute firefighters were called to the 100 block of Kent Avenue for an what appeared to be an intentionally set fire in a single-story house.

Arson investigator Norm Loudermilk said the house had no utilities hooked up, and it appears that the fire started inside the front area of the structure.

Loudermilk said he does not believe that the Ken Avenue fire is related to several other suspected arsons in the area of First and Second avenues, which have also damaged garages and vacant buildings.

“All of the arsons are different methods,” he said.

Anyone with information about any of the arsons is asked to call the Arson Task Force at 812-244-2710 or Crime Stoppers at 812-238-STOP.
