Search for fugitive nets two arrests

TERRE HAUTE — Two men were arrested Sunday night in a hunt for a fugitive from Kentucky.

Indiana State Police at Putnamville said troopers were near some Terre Haute motels in the area of First Street and Margaret Avenue at about 9 p.m. looking for a man wanted by the Kentucky Department of Correction.

Troopers saw a man matching the fugitive’s description walking near a local motel. He was stopped but was found not to be the fugitive. However, police said the man was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Tony Judy, 34, of Terre Haute, was arrested and taken to the Vigo County Jail on charges of possession of meth and paraphernalia. His bond was set at $10,000 with no 10 percent allowed, and his next court date is at 10 a.m. Thursday in Vigo Superior Court 3.

At about 10:30 p.m., troopers and officers from the street crimes unit of the Terre Haute Police Department located the person believed to be the Kentucky fugitive staying at another motel near First and Margaret.

Anthony R. White, 46, was taken into custody on a Kentucky warrant for absconding parole supervision. He was taken to the Vigo County Jail to await transport to Kentucky.
