Eldredge still seeks votes for Artist of Year

TERRE HAUTE — Fans who want to see country music artist Brett Eldredge of Paris, Ill., take home the New Artist of the Year award at this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards have until Sunday to cast their votes.

The final round of fan voting for the New Artist of the Year began on March 23 and will conclude at 8 p.m. on Sunday. Fan votes and ACM professional member votes will determine the winner of the category. Eldredge has been nominated for New Artist of the Year alongside country music singers and songwriters Justin Moore and Kip Moore.

The winner will be announced during the live broadcast of the 49th Academy of Country Music Awards, a show that begins at 8 p.m. Sunday on CBS.

From his roots entertaining in Paris, Ill., Eldredge has risen to the country music stage and in recent years has opened concerts for country artists including Taylor Swift. On Sunday, Eldredge is also expected to perform on the ACM Awards show, which will air from Las Vegas and will be co-hosted by Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan.

A singer, songwriter, guitar player, Eldredge is known for his No. 1 single, “Don’t Ya,” which climbed to the top of the charts and was ranked as one of Billboard Country Airplay chart’s top five most-played songs for 2013.

Many people from Paris, Ill., can identify with his song, “Signs,” which is about his hometown.

Eldredge’s debut album “Bring You Back” with Atlantic Records was released in August 2013.
