TERRE HAUTE —
Memorial Day ceremonies will include a special event this year. Members of veterans organizations will assemble at 2 p.m. Monday with Terre Haute and Vigo County officials at ISU’s Memorial Stadium for a dedication ceremony to officially recognize the grounds around the stadium as Veterans Memorial Park.
All veterans and the general public are invited to take part in this historic moment which will include remarks by Mayor Duke Bennett, county Commissioner Judy Anderson, and Vigo County Veterans Council President Cliff Stephens. Music will be provided by the Crossroads Brass.
The new Veterans Memorial Park will serve as the location to preserve artifacts, grounds and memorials of the military veterans of the United States. The mission of the governing body includes educating the public about the historic grounds on which the park is located as well as the contributions of all military veterans to the safety, security and well-being of the citizens of the U.S.
