A routine flyover of rural northeastern Sullivan County by Indiana State Police on Thursday revealed a marijuana cultivation operation and resulted in the arrest of a Jasonville man.
About eight pounds of processed marijuana, 68 marijuana plants, and numerous drug paraphernalia items were located on property in the 8900 block of Indiana 48 near the Sullivan-Clay county line.
The ISP marijuana eradication team secured a Sullivan County search warrant for the property at about noon Thursday. They found the processed marijuana in various locations inside the ranch-style home, and the plants ranging from 5- to 7-feet high at three separate plots in a wooded area near the home.
The estimated street value of the marijuana was $75,000.
Charles B. Beaver, 53, a co-occupant of the home, was arrested for cultivating marijuana, possession of marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance, all class-D felonies, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Sullivan County Jail on $28,000 bond.
A second suspect remained at large Thursday evening.
