TERRE HAUTE —
A Terre Haute teen remains hospitalized after colliding with a car Saturday afternoon while riding his bicycle.
Joshua Carr, 14, suffered a head injury in the incident at 4:35 p.m. at Blaine and Maple avenues.
Terre Haute Police report that a 2004 Chrysler driven by Timothy W. Compton of Terre Haute was southbound on Blaine just south of Maple when Carr rode his bicycle out of an alley and into the street.
The bicycle hit the passenger side of the car, with Carr bouncing off the windshield and landing in the street. Another person riding a bicycle with Carr told police that the teen had entered the roadway without looking for oncoming traffic.
Carr was transported to Union Hospital in Terre Haute and was airlifted to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, where he remained on Monday.
Because of the severity of the accident, police conducted a sobriety test on Compton and determined that he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident.
