Police executing drug warrants in Vigo County

TERRE HAUTE — Warrants are being served this morning in connection with the filing of 28 drug-related charges in the Vermillion Circuit Court, according to a news release issued by Vermillion County Prosecutor Bruce Aukerman. The charges consist of 11 class-A felony delivery charges, 12 class-B felony delivery charges and five class-D felony possession or maintaining charges.

The charges are the result of a months-long investigation by Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department Drug Task Force and the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section. Officers from the Terre Haute City Police Department are assisting in the service of the warrants, some of which involve Vigo County residents who allegedly sold drugs in Vermillion County.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges and arrests are expected.

The charges now pending mostly involve the sale and distribution of methamphetamine, prescription drugs and other narcotics, including cocaine, the news release stated. Many of these cases were made as a result of the sale or delivery of drugs directly to an undercover officer with the Drug Task Force or the ISP Drug Enforcement Section, according to the release.
