TERRE HAUTE —
Three people were injured — one of them left in critical condition — after a mini-bike collided head on with a go-cart in Vigo County on Saturday.
Zach Bignell, 24, of Terre Haute, sustained internal injuries, was air-lifted to an Indianapolis hospital and on Sunday was listed in critical condition, police said.
The go-cart driver, Brandon Warnock, 24, of Terre Haute, and his passenger, Zach Toney, 25, were transported by ambulance to Union Hospital with injuries, which didn’t appear to be life threatening, authorities said.
According to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred on a roadway off of the 11800 block of East Davis Avenue.
Bignell was driving a mini-bike westbound on Davis Avenue “at a high rate of speed” when it collided head-on with a go-cart heading eastbound on Davis Avenue, also at a high rate of speed.
An initial investigation revealed high speed and alcohol appeared to have been factors in the crash, police said.
