Eastside afternoon accident injures 3

Three people were taken to the hospital after a two-car accident Thursday afternoon.
A 16-year-old male was heading east on Poplar Street around 3:30 p.m. when, while trying to accelerate, he lost control of a 1968 Camaro and spun into the westbound lane, according to Terre Haute police.
His vehicle was hit on the passenger’s side by a Toyota Camry driven by a female with a male passenger, according to police.
The pair were taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital with minor injuries while the 16-year-old was taken to Union Hospital before being transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Both airbags in the Camry deployed. Police were unsure if the 16-year-old was wearing a seat belt.
