TH Man accused of fighting with police

The Tribune-Star

TERRE HAUTE Multiple criminal charges are pending against a Terre Haute man accused of fighting with police during Saturday’s homecoming festivities on Wabash Avenue.

Dylan Sinn, 24, faces two counts of battery on police, two counts of disorderly conduct, public intoxication and resisting law enforcement.

Sinn appeared Monday morning in Vigo County Superior Court Division 3 where Detective Dale Blunk of the Terre Haute Police Department stated that Sinn was arrested after he allegedly lunged at officers outside The Rafters bar in the 2900 block of Wabash Avenue around 1:30 p.m.

Police reported that Sinn was intoxicated and was denied re-entry to the bar when he became aggressive. Sinn’s father allegedly tried to get him under control, Blunk stated, but Sinn refused to cooperate and allegedly refused to get into a mobile police unit when requested.

During the altercation, one officer was struck in the face and another officer was kicked in the hand.

Due to his level of intoxication, Blunk said, Sinn was transported to the Regional Hospital emergency room. There, he allegedly continued to be disorderly despite requests of hospital staff to quiet down.

Judge David Bolk set Sinn’s next court date as Thursday for formalization of the charges. Bail was set at $10,000, with 10 percent allowed. Sinn was released Monday after posting bail.

His criminal history records show two stints in the Department of Correction. He was sentenced for conspiracy to commit armed robbery in 2002 and was sentenced in 2005 for dealing in cocaine and unlawful firearm possession by a serious felon. He was released from prison in May.
