THFD investigating arson of vacant South 18th Street structure

— Members of the Terre Haute Fire Department were investigating an arson after responding to a residential structure fire Tuesday night.
Firefighters were called to a house in the 1200 block of South 18th Street shortly after 9:30 p.m., according to a Fire Department news release.
Light smoke was showing from the vacant structure when they arrived 5 minutes after the call. Damage was estimated at $10,000. A cause was not yet known.
The vacant house had no working utilities, said John Gardner, the Fire Department’s public information officer. Investigators have ruled it an arson.
