A family in Greene County had to destroy a prized Angus bull Saturday after the animal was discovered with gunshot wounds to its face.
The registered Black Angus bull, belonging to Ernest and Janice Troxell of Bloomfield, went missing July 21 and was found Saturday near Calvertville. He had been shot in the face and blinded by what appeared to be a shotgun blast, according to a release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities believe the animal was shot between 5:30 and 8 p.m. July 20.
The owner requested that the bull be destroyed, according to the sheriff’s department release.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is asking that anyone with information about the incident call the department at (812) 384-4411.
Specifically, anyone who might have heard shots or witnessed a 4-wheeler or ATV in the area around that time is asked to call.
