A fight between cellmates sent a Wabash Valley Correctional Facility offender to the hospital and the other to face possible charges.
According to a media release issued by the Carlisle facility, Joseph Wolfe, 37, had cellmate Kevin Johnson, 34, pinned against his bunk and choked him about 7 a.m. Friday.
Indiana State Police and the facility’s Internal Affairs investigators are still trying to determine a motive in the fight, according to the release.
Johnson was taken to Sullivan County Community Hospital by ambulance but refused treatment there. He was returned to the facility for questioning.
Both were housed in segregated areas of the prison.
Wolfe is serving a 15-year sentence for arson in Gibson County. He had been scheduled for release in September 2015.
Johnson is serving a seven-year sentence for intimidation and battery by bodily waste in Monroe and Johnson counties. He is set for release in September 2011.
