A Sullivan man died early Thursday after his motorcycle was hit by a train.
Joe W. Goodwin II, 32, was an animal control officer for the City of Sullivan.
Police report that at about 12:05 a.m., Goodwin’s motorcycle became struck on the railroad tracks on Depot Street. He was trying to move the Yamaha and failed to get out of the way of the oncoming train.
Witnesses at the scene said people yelled to Goodwin to warn him of the train's approach.
Goodwin leaves behind a wife and children. He had worked for the city for about six years.
