Farmersburg man jailed on bank robbery accusations

Staff report
The Tribune-Star

FARMERSBURG A Farmersburg man remained behind bars Wednesday evening, accused of an April bank robbery along U.S. 41 North.

According to an Indiana State Police report, Douglas L. Chubb, 52, Farmersburg, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday near his home without incident.

Chubb faces a class-B felony allegation of armed robbery and remained in the Sullivan County Jail on Wednesday with bail set at $30,000, 10 percent acceptable.

Chubb is accused of brandishing a semi-automatic handgun while robbing the Harris Bank on U.S. 41 North outside Farmersburg the morning of April 7.

During the course of the two-month investigation, detectives gleaned information from surveillance cameras, witnesses and a search warrant at the suspect’s home, according to the police statement.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact ISP Detective Hans Nowak or Tom Hanks at (812) 299-1152.

A person convicted of a class-B felony can be imprisoned between six and 20 years and fined a maximum of $10,000.
