BREAKING UPDATE: Governor, Alorica execs announce 600 more jobs coming to Terre Haute

California Tech firm to site new center in Plaza North Shopping Center

Staff report
The Tribune-Star

TERRE HAUTE Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels joined executives from customer service management firm Alorica today to announce the company's plans to establish a new in-bound customer service center here, creating more than 600 new jobs by 2009, states a release this morning from the Indiana Economic Development Corp.

The Chino, Calif.-based company, which provides integrated customer support services that range from call center operations to web-traceable service logistics, will site its new Indiana operations in 50,000 square feet of former retail space in the Plaza North Shopping Center located at 1800 Fort Harrison Road, Suite 23 in the western Indiana city.

"We're always working on improving the competitive environment in Indiana to attract more new job-creating investment. Today, that effort will help Hoosiers in the Terre Haute area, and the decision to locate here couldn't come at a better time," said Daniels.

Alorica, which employs more than 7,500 associates at its 13 global locations, plans to begin hiring customer care specialists and managers in May to meet the growing demand from its clients that include FORTUNE 500 companies.

"Hoosiers are known for their hospitality and strong work ethic-values that align well with our commitment to quality," said Andy Lee, Alorica founder and chief executive. "We look forward to fulfilling the needs of our growing customer base from our new Indiana facility."

Alorica, which has earned national acclaim from organizations ranging from Deloitte & Touche to Software Magazine, will begin hiring associates for its new Indiana operations during a series of two events slated for May 19 to 21 and May 27 to 29 at Ivy Tech Community College, 1700 East Industrial Drive, Terre Haute. Both events will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and reservations are not necessary. Job seekers may also submit applications for employment online at www.AloricaJobs.com or in-person any time at the facility.

"It is the rare economic development project that creates 600 new jobs in one fell swoop," said Steve Witt, president of the Terre Haute Economic Development Corporation. "We welcome Alorica to our community with open arms. We anticipate the company will enjoy great success in Terre Haute."

The announcement of Alorica's decision to locate its first Indiana operations in Terre Haute comes less than a month after Daniels joined executives in nearby West Terre Haute at Marion Manufacturing to announce the company's plans to create 47 new jobs.
