Voter turnout doubles in Parke County

ROCKVILLE —
For a Republican county, Parke County ended up with a lot of Democrats and double the usual voter turnout for Tuesday’s primary election.
“We’re a Republican county and they were calling for Democrat ballots,” said County Clerk Kim Shorter. “I’m still in a state of shock.”
A 41 percent voter turnout had given her more than she expected for her first election as clerk, she said, but her workers didn’t run into any problems throughout the day.
