Police investigating break-in at car dealership

Staff report
The Tribune-Star

PARIS, Ill. Police in Paris, Ill., are investigating a reported break-in Tuesday night at a recently-closed car dealership.

A Paris police official said the department responded to a commercial alarm at Paris Ford. No arrests were made.

Kevin Beyrer, owner of Paris Ford and Terre Haute Ford, was at the empty Paris dealership Wednesday morning in response to the reported break-in, he said.

“I know there was damage” resulting from the break-in, Beyrer said. He said he could not be sure if anything had been taken because the company’s computer system had been damaged. The computer system contains the dealership’s inventory, he said.

A person with Beyrer at the Paris Ford dealership who asked not to be named said the company’s alarm sounded around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night. He said the person or persons who committed the break-in damaged the alarm system, the telephone lines and the computer system.

The break-in apparently took place through a window in the rear of the dealership’s garage area, people with Beyrer said.

Paris Ford recently closed. A sign in the dealership’s window directs customers to Terre Haute Ford.
