Three-car crash sends 3 to Valley hospitals

TERRE HAUTE — A car sliding into guardrails along I-70 resulted in a three-vehicle collision which sent three people to local hospitals Saturday afternoon.

According to an Indiana State Police report, a vehicle driven by James Laycock, 71, of Roann, was traveling east on I-70 near the 4-mile marker at 1:10 p.m. when it lost control and struck guardrails on the north and south side of the lane.

The report stated that a second eastbound vehicle, driven by Janet Mason, 69, of Marshall, Ill., slowed to avoid striking Laycock’s, but was hit from the rear by a third car, driven by Joshua Stack, 20, of Arthur, Ill. who hit both hers and Laycock’s.

Laycock was transported to Regional Hospital complaining of hip pains. He was reported to be in good condition Saturday evening.

Mason was transported to Union Hospital complaining of chest pain and shortness of breath. She was under treatment Saturday evening.

Stack was transported to Regional Hospital complaining of head injuries and pain to his left leg and elbow. He was treated and released.
