---- — Thanks to those who helped VYFL

In a world where it seems like there is more bad than good, it is important to teach our children to see the good in as many things as possible.

Fred Rogers (the famous Mr. Rogers) once quoted his mother talking about scary things in the news. “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

The Vigo Youth Football League has been working hard the past few months preparing new playing fields behind Terre Town Baseball for the kids for the upcoming season. When it seemed like nothing but countless hours and volunteers would get the job done, in stepped IUOE Local 841.

Several weeks ago, Tom Ridge, Bill Sharpe and Joe Streacker showed up, along with some heavy machinery hauled by Dennis Trucking and Wabash Valley Asphalt, to the location of the new fields where they scraped the top layer of dirt and leveled the ground for the first two playing fields. Done by hand, this would have taken months. They did it in two weeks … and didn’t ask for anything in return.

On behalf of Vigo Youth Football and all the children who look forward to using these new facilities, we would like to thank Local 841 as well as Dennis Trucking, Wabash Valley Asphalt, NEW Interstate Concrete, Cahill’s Rental and Sales, ICE Co., Dick McCalister & Sons, Midwest Concrete Inc. and Smith Well Drilling. You have made a world of difference.

We can now look forward to a new season and fresh start.
