Putting values, people over party

I did not start out wanting to be a legislator. I am a manufacturer, small business owner, husband and a father of twin boys. I decided to run for office because of the values that I was raised with, the same values I strive to live by: Hard work, investing in the future, helping people in need, and stepping up to serve.

I am running for office because I believe the state can and should live up to the values of its people.

I believe in accountability at every level. Too often I hear people pass the buck, say there is nothing they can do about a problem, that someone else caused the problem and they can’t fix it. We need to bring personal accountability back to government.

I believe in accessibility and transparency. Too often legislators become out of touch with their community and the people they are supposed to serve. I am accessible now and if elected I will continue to be accessible. If you have an issue that you would like to talk about, give me a call or email me.

Today, our unemployment rate is 3 percent higher then the state average. And I know we can do better. If elected to the state Senate, I will work hard to make the Wabash Valley attractive for new job creation.

We need a state senator who will put values and people over party and policy. I am Jon Ford and I believe I am that person. I hope I can count on your support May 6.

— Jon Ford
