Keep comments to the political

This is in response to an April 6 letter by Shirley Thomas. I read with interest your answer to Mr. Thiel’s letter. I do not believe he is a bully. He only stated his beliefs, as he is entitled to do and as you do in your letters. To me, some of your letters make you sound like a bully, too.

I believe you and Ron Hastings are doing what you say Mr. Thiel is doing, accusing him of lying. Who’s to know the truth? You and Mr. Hastings continue to bash the tea party when you all know that the tea party is made up of grassroots Americans who only want what’s right for their beloved country. You accuse them of lying so what makes you any better than Mr. Thiel?

Don’t get me wrong because I applaud you for standing up for what you believe in. That’s your right, every American’s right. And you are very wrong because when the Democrats don’t like how things are going, they are the ones who go on the attack, downgrading the Republicans. Just listen to the news.

I don’t believe Mr. Issa’s crime was made up, there is documented proof he was right and the Democrats want to destroy the Constitution. You are right, democracy is a two-way street, and I think both sides should come together, find common ground, so to speak. But the olive branch should first be extended by the Democrats, and yes, attacks should be confined to political so I will ask you to do the same, confine your attacks to the political and not personal attacks on the tea party.

Thank you, Shirley, I hope you keep writing, and may God bless you and yours.

— Howard Pennell
