TERRE HAUTE — An investment in security

Let’s say and assume there are 100 crimes committed each day in Terre Haute. Let’s also say they are crimes that are happening from very minor crimes to very serious crimes. But nonetheless, they are crimes committed each day in this city. But one thing for sure is that nobody knows exactly how many crimes are being committed each day in Terre Haute.

Crimes can be committed against businesses or against the government, or they can be crimes committed against Terre Haute residents. The Vigo County Jail Log in the Tribune-Star shows criminal activity at many different levels.

No police officer or sheriff can be at the place and at the exact time every crime is being committed. That would be completely impossible. So what should residents, victims and/or victimized businesses in Terre Haute do? That is a very important question? What should residents and/or victims expect from the police and sheriff’s department in Terre Haute? This is also another very important question.

What actions should residents of any age take to deal with what they perceive is a crime inflicted on them or on their property? How are crimes against Terre Haute residents or their property handled by either the police or sheriff departments? What resolution from the police or sheriff’s department should Terre Haute residents as victims expect? What do people do if criminal acts against Terre Haute residents or their property continues, even after the proper authorities have been notified? Should they at any time take the law into their own hands?

What notification does the police and sheriff’s department require from residents concerning any kind of perceived criminal activity? What can every resident expect from the police and sheriff’s department? Everyone from kids to senior citizens wants to live in a safe city, in safe neighborhoods, in safe homes and kids want to walk safe streets and go to safe schools.

What could additional manpower and equipment for the police and sheriff’s department bring for greater safety to the residents of Terre Haute? A great investment for the city.
