Herb Faire a great success

Another successful Spring Thyme Herb & Plant Faire was held May 10 at Fairbanks Park in Terre Haute, sponsored by the Wabash Valley Herb Society, Inc. This project allows the Herb Society to annually fund several college scholarships for area students, plus make donations to other nonprofit organizations in the surrounding counties and maintain the herb garden in Deming Park.

The weather was perfect for a day in the park shopping for herbs and all things related to gardening. We had another record number of vendors this year. Our repeat vendors always welcome old and new customers and renew friendships with past customers.

We wish to thank the community for supporting our efforts in expanding the knowledge of herbs and gardening in the Wabash Valley. A special thanks to First Financial Bank, WTHI, WTWO and the Tribune-Star for their support in advertising the Herb Faire. See you again next year.

Appreciation for a ‘lovely angel’

A month has passed since a good Samaritan, Michelle Michael, rescued my  husband from wandering onto U.S. 40.

My husband, Daniel, was doing yard work at the end of our driveway, which exits onto Highway 40, when he became disoriented and lost his sense of balance and ability to stand.

Michelle was driving by and realized he was in distress. Michelle hurriedly parked her car and ran to assist him as he was about to enter the highway. She calmed him and asked about any health problems as she guided him to our porch.

Michelle remained with Daniel until he recovered. He refers to her as “the lovely angel.” We appreciate her kindness; she is a special lady.

Thank you, Michelle.

Thanks for stirring fireworks show

If you weren’t among the several thousand at The Landing on the evening of July 3, you missed an incredible fireworks/laser light show.

The spectacular display, dedicated to veterans, backed up by patriotic music played over the loud speakers, genuinely stirred hearts in the crowd, and showed why we’re proud to be Americans.

It took a lot of work and preparation to put on this tribute for the citizens of Vigo County. Many thanks to The Landing and Dr. V. and Lucky Reddy. You are truly assets to this community.
