TERRE HAUTE — Another great festival success

As First Congregational Church marks the end of the 26th annual Strawberry Fest, we find ourselves offering up thanks for the many folks who worked to make this a huge success.

Over 200 volunteers showed up and made sure that berries were served, trash was cleared, supplies were at the ready and laughter was present. Without this gift of time and energy, Strawberry Fest wouldn’t be possible. Their spirit of community and their willingness to help are much appreciated.

We also wish to thank the media outlets who helped get the word out and then showed up on Fest Day to keep the information flowing. As always, we are grateful to Jesse Walker for broadcasting the weather from the corner of the Fest.

Special thanks to our community partners — Lamar, Complete Outdoor, Cintas and Republic — for their continued support in ensuring that things get advertised and set up for smooth running. We are, as always, grateful for the hard work and careful planning of Scott at B&B Foods who makes sure we never run out of supplies again and that 10,000 shortcakes are made and enjoyed.

Without the wonderful people of First Financial Bank, including Norm Lowery, we would never be able to bring the Strawberry Fest dream to reality. They really show us all what the true spirit of “neighbor” is for this community.

To everyone who attended, shared a business card with clients and colleagues or made an advance order for pick up, your continued support allows First Congregational Church to open our doors to the many worthwhile groups and organizations in need of meeting and office space. You help us be a downtown presence of hope and healing, and we are grateful.

See you next year as we celebrate the 27th Strawberry Fest.
