Fontanet group needs your help

I would like to take this time to inform your readers about a great group ladies and men who are friendly, energetic and care about their community. This group is called F.A.C.T., which stands for Fontanet Action Community Team. They serve breakfasts, funeral dinners and dinners in their community for donations only.

They want this community to stay alive for this generation and future generations but they need our help. They have a community building that they hold their many functions. This is where the help comes in. They need a new roof, electrical and structural changes on some walls to enlarge the rooms.

If you have ever attended the annual free bean dinner or played the “Beantowners” in the good old days, you know the community, and now is the time to give back. Help this great group of people through the coming months

I’m asking all civic groups, unions, universities and individuals to offer your time in work, materials or monetary.

Please contact Marrietta Cooper, president, at 812-877-0205. Or send donations to F.A.C.T., P.O. Box 162, Fontanet, IN, 47851.

Come out and help support the group through a meal, purchase homemade noodles or one of their knives they sell to keep this center open and their community close. You will be truly blessed.

Thank you.

In support of free expression

On April 26, Paul Weston, chairman of the party Liberty GB and candidate in the May 22 European Elections in the South East, was arrested in Winchester in the United Kingdom. Mr. Weston was addressing the passersby in the street with a megaphone. He quoted the following excerpt about Islam from the book “The River War” by Winston Churchill:

“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries. Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property — either as a child, a wife, or a concubine — must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the faith: all know how to die but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith.”

The lack of freedom of expression is a serious impediment to open inquiry and debate about issues of public concern. Citizens of the United States can indeed be proud that the United States Constitution gives them freedoms available nowhere else in the world. Free expression of facts and views and free debate about them are the key to solving important problems peacefully.
