Thanks for help supporting kids

On behalf of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 85 we would like to thank the police officers, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology fraternity members and Eta Delta Pi members from Harrison College who volunteered their time to shop with children at our annual “Kids Shopping with the Police” program.

The fraternity members also provided food and drinks for the children and their families that morning. We would also like to thank the staff at Wal-Mart South for assisting us with the children and the Salvation Army for providing the names of the children for this program; and to the Tribune-Star, WTWO and WTHI for covering this event and sharing it with our community.

Over 200 local children will have a better Christmas this year because of their efforts and the generous donations from our community that make this program possible. We wish everyone could witness the smiles on the children’s faces that morning. Their smiles are a direct result of community donations and the efforts of those listed above. Thank you again for your generosity.

Our community always comes through to help those in need but it really shines by the outpouring of giving to the many good causes this time of year. We are very fortunate to live in such a generous community.

We wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a safe 2014.
