To those who waited, worked
On behalf of Duke Energy, I would like to say thanks to our customers who experienced electric service interruption for your patience and understanding during the recent storm.
I also appreciate the power crews, support services and emergency responders who worked around the clock to restore power and protect our communities. A big thank you to all the men and women at Duke Energy who gave much of themselves to keep the lights on in the Wabash Valley. They work in weather at 30 below, working in our generating stations, leaving their families and hoping nothing goes wrong while doing their jobs, and always go that extra step to check on our customers’ safety.
In my 37 years as a Duke Energy employee, I can say I am proud to stand by our employees each day.
Thanks to everyone’s tireless effort and commitment to our customers, we were able to safely weather the storm.

Nice trip for the president
I would like to ask my fellow readers of this page to please help me.
So much is written (and featured on TV) about our president that I may have missed the exact remark he made upon his return to the mainland. (I think it was Jan. 4 or 5).
Our Commander-in-Chief criticized severely members of Congress for being on vacation, instead of deliberating in the Chambers. The reports of our president’s vacation in Hawaii were so scenic, it made the MGM movies (of decades ago), starring Esther Williams, Frank Sinatra and Xavier Cugat, look like second-rate pictures.
During my 50 years as a registered pharmacist, my family and I spent memorable days of vacation at the U.S. Clay Courts Championships at Indianapolis. The venue of which was located at the beautiful IUPUI campus.
In closing, I recommend that Mr. Obama, while addressing us, the people, will be more precise or hire a new squad of speechwriters.
