U.S. 40 project in Brazil to begin April 15

CLAY COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces the U.S. 40 project in Brazil is scheduled to begin construction on or after Tuesday, April 15. INDOT is working with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and a consultant for a dry cleaner’s former location to remove unanticipated contaminated soil and proceed with construction.

The U.S. 40 Pavement Replacement project was awarded to Gradex Inc. for $19.7 million. Utility relocation has been ongoing over the winter months and will continue this year as well. This project will replace the pavement on U.S. 40 from Indiana 340 to Walmart and on Indiana 340 from Waterworks to U.S. 40. The drainage will be improved with new storm drainage structures, curbs and gutters. New sidewalks will be constructed with ADA compliant curb ramps throughout the project. The U.S. 40 project is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 15, 2015.
