Vigo County Jail Log: Dec. 9, 2013

TERRE HAUTE — The following individuals were booked into the Vigo County Jail by area law enforcement on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, based on jail records. Charges are recommended by arresting officers but are not final until the Vigo County prosecutor reviews the case and files official charges.


Shawn E. Taft, 37, 300 block of North French Street, Sullivan. Booked 10:40 a.m. Court order (two counts).

John Lovett, 30, 4300 block of West County Road 1015, Brazil. Booked 11:46 a.m. Failure to appear.

Paul A. Lovell, 36, 2100 block of Locust Street, Terre Haute. Booked 8:28 p.m. Aggravated battery.

Robert E. Trump, 30, 1800 block of Hendricks, Terre Haute. Booked 10:45 p.m. Robbery and bond revocation.


Jacob L. Pennell, 21, 600 block of South Seventh Street, West Terre Haute. Booked 1:49 a.m. Failure to appear.

Crystal Manors, 27, 1200 block of East Dawn Drive, Terre Haute. Booked 1:50 a.m. Failure to appear.

Doyle R. Padish Jr, 21, 200 block of North Ninth Street, West Terre Haute. Booked 2:06 a.m. Failure to appear. Roger D. Simmons, 30, 1800 block of South 12th Street, Terre Haute. Booked 2:35 a.m. Public intoxication.

Daniel Island, 23, 8000 block of Stonehinge Circle, Terre Haute. Operating while intoxicated.

Mark A. Devins, 22, 200 block of East Wood Avenue, Universal. Booked 4:48 a.m. Operating while intoxicated, habitual traffic violator, resisting law enforcement and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

Benjamin R. Ortiz Jr., 45, 4100 block of West U.S. 40, West Terre Haute. Booked 11:10 a.m. Habitual traffic violator.

Anthony Thigpen, 18, 600 block of Ash Street, Terre Haute. Booked 12 p.m. Aggravated battery.

Meghan Taft, 26, 3300 block of East Rose Hill Avenue, Terre Haute. Booked 1:05 p.m. Court order and probation violation.

Toni L. Scott, 25, 300 block of North King Street, Robinson, Ill. Booked 2:48 p.m. Failure to appear.

Gaynell F. Riley, 57, 800 block of North 13th Street, Terre Haute. Booked 7:35 p.m. Battery.

Samantha L. Balder, 25, 1100 block of Seventh Avenue, Terre Haute. Booked 11:27 p.m. Assisting a criminal and failure to appear.

James N. Smith, 28, 2000 block of North 13th Street, Terre Haute. Booked 11:49 p.m. Burglary, failure to appear, false reporting/informing, possession of marijuana/hash and possession of paraphernalia.
