Vigo County schools will remain closed Thursday

For a fourth straight day Thursday, public schools will be closed in Vigo County due to a winter storm that dropped 10 inches of snow Sunday, making travel dangerous and at times impossible.

Dan Tanoos, superintendent of the Vigo County School Corp., said this morning that many school buses remain snowbound and drivers cannot reach the roads. He also said that many teachers and staff are still snowed-in at their homes.

Work continues on clearing snow-packed school parking lots, he said, noting that he has been driving many of the roads and has been in contact with county and city officials about getting roads and sidewalks cleared to make it safe to transport students.

Revisit and see Thursday’s Tribune-Star for more details.
