ARCTIC BLAST 2014: Vigo County EMA issues statement on storm

Asks public to limit travel

TERRE HAUTE — Vigo County EMA is advising citizens to prepare for the Winter Storm approaching the county.

Vigo EMA asks that people refrain from travel unless absolutely necessary once the snow fall begins. This will assist road and emergency crews to do their work.

The following cold weather blast has a potential for -15 to -35 wind chills. That means that exposed skin can free in moments. Exposure and hypothermia can set in very quickly. Please check on elderly neighbors. Pets and animals should be brought inside if possible.

For utility problems, please call the Utility Emergency numbers listed in the phone book, NOT 911.
